When it comes to art, we try to find new and interesting ways to let the children express themselves. Many of the children love painting with marbles. Instead of marbles, we used a rubber ball and a large cardboard box. We placed a large piece of paper in the cardboard box, poured three colors of paint on the paper, then let the children roll the ball through the paint. Even though the end product looked the same as a marble painting (only bigger), the experience was different in many ways. The children had to work together to roll around the ball to create a really cool design, they had to communicate with their peers as they were trying to figure out how to move the ball around, and they had to use gross motor skills to lift and move the box around to get the desired effect. This is a great variation to one of our favorite art activities!!
